Bio

Born in Dallas, TX, Ryan Dickie is a director, writer and producer of films, television, commercials and music videos in live-action and animation. He brings over fifteen years of freelance experience as a cinematographer and editor into every directing project, often filling multiple roles. He lives to explore the vast spectrum of cinematic approaches, nerding out on the latest gear and telling stories with a sharp comedic edge. Ryan fell deeply in love with movies as a kid, worked at AMC Theatres and Blockbuster Video during high school in Atlanta, GA, got a Film & Video BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design, then moved to Brooklyn, NY to live the dream.

Ryan’s recent projects include debut feature film Blow Up My Life, which premiered at Austin Film Festival and won of Best Film at Harlem International Film Festival, now streaming on-demand. Short animated series Good Morning, Pickles! for FX show “Cake”, streaming now on Hulu. Hot Future, an animated series for Adult Swim using Unreal Engine, awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick. He is currently in development on his second live-action feature Buds Eternal, awarded the Montana Big Sky Film Grant. He is a co-founding member of production companies New Media Ltd and WPDA Studios.

His short films have played film festivals including SXSW, Toronto Independent Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival and Fantastic Fest. His accolades include two Cannes Lions Gold Young Director Awards, a D&AD Graphite Pencil and New Director Shortlist, Vimeo Best of the Year Award and ten Staff Picks, two SXSW grand jury nominations, three UKVMA nominations, WIFF Independent Spirit Award, and named one of Filmmaker Magazine's “25 New Faces of Independent Film.”
